Equifax Credit Checks
October 25, 2023:
Beginning October 25th, CPI will be performing an Equifax Credit Check for all members signing up for service. The credit check uses the National Consumer Telecom and Utilities Exchange (NCTUE) information to determine if a deposit is required for service. The credit check is a “soft hit,” and does not impact credit scores. Members may decline the credit check; however, a deposit equal to two times the average bill over the last 12 months for the property will be assessed.
Deposits based on credit checks will be determined as follows:
- One-star credit ratings will require a deposit equal to two times the average bill over the last 12 months.
- Two-star credit ratings will require a deposit equal to two times the average bill over the last 12 months. However, this deposit may be waived by providing a letter of credit from the previous utility.
- Three-star credit ratings will not require a deposit.
