CPI Implements Fire Protection Protocols

August 1, 2022: This morning CPI began implementing fire protection protocols in response to increased fire risk in our service territory. The specific action CPI is taking is to put our entire system into “Non-Reclose.”

Non-Reclose means that if there is a fault on the system that results in an outage, the system will not automatically try to reenergize itself. CPI personnel will diagnose the fault and patrol the affected section of the system before reenergizing the system.

During the time that the system remains in Non-Reclose any outages that occur will likely impact more members and be longer than normal due to the need to patrol the lines for fire safety.
